For those of you that missed this week’s meeting you missed a great discussion on SQL on VMware presented by John Dybik.  There were some really great questions and discussion on the subject, a big thank you to John for the presentation!  Here is the document that John referenced on performance.  (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/Perf_Best_Practices_vSphere4.0.pdf ).  Also there were some great topics that came out at the end of the meeting, if there is anyone that would like to speak about their experience with View, Resource Pools, or any other person experience with VMware products let me know.  Thank you to Emulex for coming out to present for this month as well.  For December we will have Dell sponsoring the meeting.  The agenda will get posted soon.  Also check out the calendar for December, there is a vendor event being sponsored by Pride Technologies and Liquid Labs at OCLC on December 8th the information and registration is in there.  I here they have some giveaways for the first 100.

If you have not checked out the forums lately there is a new section for studying for the VCP4.  I will be adding to this section as I get questions and links to resources available but there is more than enough out there to get you started.  The only way that this will really works though is if you provide feedback to the questions post your own questions and interact with each other.  So register on the site contribute and contribute.  Hopefully we can get each other though this certification and learn some new things as we go.

With the release of the new vSphere product line also comes some new features.  If you have not discovered the search feature you will find it quite useful especially in larger environments where you might have linked mode in place.

Click the “Search” button to get started.

Then click the Show Options button

As you can see you can select multiple options for searching for guests.  Also after the search results come back you can click on the guest link to take you to it.  Hopefully you find this useful.
